April was crazy. Crazy, crazy. It doesn't end.
The Rape of Europa by Lynn H. Nicholas - finally finished this book; I had put it down about a year ago as my attention waned. Quite interesting (but of course I'm biased).
Allegiant by Veronica Roth - last of the series. This completely changes everything... and I think I liked it better before.
Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater - trilogy of teen books by one of my favorite authors. A little fluffier than her usual fare, but a good story with a surprising amount of humanity. Not her best work, but a fun read.
Linger by Maggie Stiefvater
Forever by Maggie Stiefvater
All Clear by Connie Willis - I finally tackled the second volume of this book. I love Connie Willis, but these two volumes just dragged on seemingly endlessly. Interesting characters, great premise... but it was just way too long. Also, the pacing was nearly painful at times - I've been really stressed for a few weeks, and I found I actually couldn't read this book, because the whole thing was an endless stream of "we're going to die!", over and over, without any respite. That being said, I did enjoy the books and quite liked the ending too, which I was despairing about for a while.
Movies
Frozen (2013) - no, I hadn't seen it yet. And now that I have, I must say I'm a bit disappointed. It was so hyped up by everyone as the best Disney in a long time... but I found Tangled more enjoyable. Yes, there were good things - I love that they brought back the singing, even if it wasn't exactly very well executed (and that's saying something, considering Idina Menzel being one of the main characters). The songs were chaotic and a little too over-the-top, the characters weren't as developed as I wanted, but there was just enough quirkiness and some fun laughs and twists that made it enjoyable.
The King and I (1956) - what an interesting take on the story. It was very silly, of course, being a musical, but the costumes were fun and the acting actually pretty good.
