Real content? What's that?

This prompt is from an NPR article about music choices and how these choices give insight into your personality. Interesting thought.

What was the first song you ever bought? (And why)
I remember the first 2 CDs I bought; I bought them at the same time, even though they were so vastly different. The first was Lisa Loeb's Stay, and I loved that album from start to finish. I still do - enough that I've had to buy another copy, since my original one was scratched beyond recognition. The other was Green Day's "Dookie" - I bought that one more because I was trying to be cool, I think, though I did genuinely enjoy the songs.

What song always gets you dancing?
If I go out clubbing, I go to dance. It doesn't take much, honestly - anything with a good beat. I love to dance to music I wouldn't normally like: frilly, fluffy things like Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe", as well as harder, more industrial music. My absolute favorite, when I was clubbing regularly in the goth clubs, was Racer Car by FPU (the TGV Dub, not the original). Also, anything by VNV Nation and Wumpscut.

What song takes you back to your childhood?
It's cheesy and terrible, but I have a soft spot for Right Here Waiting by Richard Marx. I was a very sentimental, nostalgic child (still am, I suppose) who was quite unsettled by having to move around so much. One of my best friends disappeared overnight, and it traumatized me. I would daydream about finding him again, even years later.

What is your perfect love song?
My favorite is an obscure song called Gorecki by Lamb. I had planned to have it play at my wedding, but there were technical difficulties, so it didn't happen. I'm also a big fan of Iris by the GooGoo Dolls.

What song would you want at your funeral?
I have no idea. Probably something instrumental and dignified, like Crystallized Beauty by Philip Shepperd or Ljosid by Olafur Arnalds. I haven't given it much thought, though.

Time for an encore. One last song that makes you, you.
I give you my current favorite song of all time, the one I just can't seem to get tired of. Lovers in a Dangerous Time by the Barenaked Ladies. It has great voices, acoustic guitar, piano, and everything I love.
