October exploded at some point, leaving me whirling. After reading something like 10 research books in a week, can you blame me for being daunted by my 1000 page fantasy novel?? That being said, every time I finish a George R. R. Martin novel, it feels like a major accomplishment. They're good, oh yes, but so very, very long...
Books:
* The Occupied Garden by Kristen den Hartog and Tracy Kasaboski - the only real book I can legitimately say I read cover to cover for my research. A fascinating glimpse into life in occupied Holland during WWII
* A Clash of Kings by George R. R. Martin - 2 down, 3 to go... until the next one is released, of course. I enjoy these, I just hate lugging them around and really need something light and fluffy after I finish one.
* Kitty's Big Trouble by Carrie Vaughn - and here's the light and fluffy. I rather enjoyed the Asian twist to this one, but it's still not enough to keep me reading them (unless, as happened this time, I'm just desperate for light and fluffy).
and that's it. No movies, no museums, no life other than school, school and more school. Admittedly, the 30 page curatorial essay might have had something to do with that, as does the history book that's lying half-finished on my kitchen table, but those are just excuses, really.
