never the same girl twice

- this is one of my time-resistant icons. i've had it, off and on, for years, and continue to use it. originally an image from the Vampire Princess Miyu manga, it's the image of a girl sitting atop a tooi gate: unreachable, observing, forever apart. the story is tragic and i find myself identifying with her sense of seperateness quite often. i use it when i'm feeling at a remove from things, or when i need to get some well-deserved distance.

- this ties in my obsession with eastern patterns and design with my fascination with trees. the idea of living within a tree is comforting. i use it for a door into the unknown, or into the past.

- i identify myself with the wolf. i wanted something simple, nearly stylized, but akin to nature at the same time. i use this when i'm feeling solitary, or predatory.

- i call this one, simply, "patterns". i love the Indian art influences, with everything intertwining and weaving into itself. i tend to use this one when fate is being particularly blatant, or when things just naturally fall into place.

- i think this is originally from a Michael Whelan image, though i've quite forgotten. i love the ambiguity of the image, the bare foot on a rock ledge, the empty void full of possibility. i use this one when i'm hesitating, or thinking of making big decisions.

- i've always particularly liked the idea that bunnies are evil and out to destroy the world. the cuteness, the innocence... they must hide some form of evil genius. the quote is from Buffy, specifically Anya's twisted obsession with bunnies and midgets. i use this when i'm feeling silly, or the world has gone topsy-turvy.

- i'm in love with architecture, and light, and imagery in general. i randomly went hunting for some nice-looking Japanese pagodas, and came across this one, fading into the mist. a bit of tweaking, and voila. i use it when i'm feeling used up, or like i've gone invisible.
