Gatineau park
Jul. 12th, 2009 05:26 pmthe local park (and by park i mean provincial-type, not playground) meets with approval. there are hiking trails and picnic spots, bugs and garden snakes and dragonflies. we did one of their "hard" trails (there are 3 levels: easy, hard and very hard) and found it less challenging than most of the Tremblant trails, so I'm willing to give anything a shot (except maybe the ones labeled "steep incline"). methinks it might even be possible to do most of the trails eventually (except for a few multi-day trails).
it did feel a little too groomed for my tastes along the main roads, and it took me a long time to figure out why. on either side of the road, there is grass. mowed, upkept grass. um... why??
but still, beautiful park, and literally a 5 minute drive from my apartment. it still requires a car unless you're planning to make a day of it (which is possible), but that can be worked around.

even caught a few dragonflies on camera:
